Salary (inclusive of London allowance) :

£ 31,778 – £38,441 per annum. Appointments are normally made to the bottom range of this scale.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Medical Genomics Group headed by Professor Stephan Beck is seeking a Research Associate – Bioinformatician. Using experimental and computational approaches, the group has a broad interest in the genomics of phenotypic plasticity in health and disease.

The appointee will be responsible for the tracking, processing, analysis and storage of array and next-generation sequencing based data and contribute to the development of computational meta-analysis pipelines.

In collaboration with Dr. Daniel Pearce (UCL Institute of Healthy Ageing), the post is initially funded for 2-years by the EU-FP7 Network of Excellence on Integrated Research of Developmental Determinants of Ageing and Longevity (IDEAL).

Key Requirements

The successful candidate will have a biology or computer science based degree, and must have or be in the process of submitting a PhD and will possess significant experience in applied bioinformatics. You will be responsible for the tracking; processing, analysis and storage of array and next-generation sequencing based data. Experience with the analysis of genomics data (ideally with array and next generation sequencing data) and experience in common bioinformatics packages such as Bioconductor and Bioperl.
